I'm new to ponds but not new to "keeping water", I've had fresh and salt water aquariums for over 40 years. I have so much new to learn and I think I'm most excited about that, the learning.

I've wanted a pond forever but it was never the right time. I started getting serious and researching a couple years ago then started designing back in May. Tomorrow, if the weather holds out, we start building!

It's going to be a pretty elaborate system and I'm sure I'll have questions. Do people do build threads here? Is that something people would be interested in? If so where should I post that?

Oh heck yeah! You can just start a thread and add to it as you go. Some people use the showcase option, so either one works.

Here's a great one for reference:

There are many more to look at here, but @GBBUDD is a great reference for all things construction.

Can't wait to see what you have in mind!

Hello and welcome! Yes, and we love to see pond builds!

Where do you live?
Thanks, I live in North Carolina, by the South Carolina border.

I'm going to time lapse the project so should have videos for each day, but may not actually get to post them daily.

Welcome to the site.
We all live for builds and to see how the ponds do down the road.
Putting your design and plan here first can save a lot of time aggravation and trouble down the road.

Welcome, sounds like an interesting build and a large pond. Like @GBBUDD said post your plans/design here as there a lot of experienced ponders on here, with some creative ideas and builds.

When I hear elaborate system I question while a nexus and other systems work great they are routine maintenance. Uv systems we lean away from for the most part as they solve one issue but create others. The one system I'm looking at is ozone . I know next to nothing about it but what I do know is intriguing.

Remember to make it easy to tend too .Make sure you have dedicated breakers for your electric and my son put switch's in my master bedroom closet so if anything goes wrong I can just turn off the pumps and aerator from inside instead of going outside in bad weather .I also added security cameras to monitor my pond and property like addy did .I am not getting any younger
