I am using a shop vac, with the sears pump accessory to drain it. $39.00

By the write ups it appears to be a good one, but i have no personal experience with it.

Sure you could run the pipe to the skimmer. Make it a big pipe though, and make sure you install a valve so you can close it if you need to.

Thanks to everyone for the replies and help. I'm off to put the other bag of AC in the falls now. Tomorrow I'll fight with the vacuum I have until I can get a better one and/or a bottom drain. It's a labor of love and it keeps me busy and out of trouble!

After 3-4 days with the AC, my water cleared up! Still lightly brown tinged but I could see the bottom and all my fish again. And I don't expect (or want) crystal clear swimming pool water anyway. I got my new Matala pond-vac from DoDad today and it does a great job! So hopefully the brown water is behind us. Thanks everyone for the input and tips and help!

If you have plants, you need to watch what you use as a substrate. If you used potting soil, that will cause your water to turn tea colored and feed algae like crazy.
