it is a beautiful pond! Many of us would love to have it! Build a nice bog filter and you probably would get rid of the brown.
Can you tell I love bogs!
I would love to build a bog filter Addy but I was talked into the two Aquascape skimmers and Biofalls (and of course 2 pumps) by the first pond guy I hired. As soon as I bought the house the old pond filter system gave up the ghost and I had to find someone quick that could help me...needless to say after having me buy all of this stuff he installed it wrong and I had to find someone else to re do the waterfalls and fix the skimmers. This cost mucho dinero. I only wish that I wasn't rushed into anything because I definitely would have built a bog filter with what I know now....Maybe in my next life:)

Or you could do one to the side somewhere, with a bit of tinkering, some pipe, a big bin or bit of liner, rock and plants and a pump just for the bog. Even if it's just a small one at first, and you can grow all kinds of yummies like tomatoe plants in one, as well as iris, and tons of other water happy plants.

Forget it...I just read that it takes 4-6 pounds per 1,000 gallons.

Our pond is about 4000 gallons and we just toss in a couple of bags every year - it definitely helps. I put it anywhere where the water is going to pass through/over it. I leave a bag in place for a couple of weeks, then I pull it and toss in a new bag.
