Either one of those should work fine but I would definitely rinse it off thoroughly or it will cloud up your water.

found that water celery and watercress work well w/ the +90F sun and running water. maybe too well and are overdue for a trim

Both plants can be aggressive growers but are easily pulled out or cut back.
