We put slots in the pipes mrsclem rather than just holes. 1/3 of the way around the pipe about 1/4 in width. 2 inch pvc. And have two leaf baskets on the input line to get the big junk, one at the pump, on added on in line before the pump.

The bog water will never get real stinky with proper flow.
