Gorgeous birds! I did a color pencil drawing of one in high school that I sold to my art teacher for $50. Never knew that years later I would later grow to feel such an anxious pit in my stomach at the idea of seeing one! XD

Population control! Well empty the pond control. They will fish until the fish are gone.

We are fortunate; the pond is just short of 1/2 ac with steep banks, good cover, 3-6’ deep.

The heron, hawks and kestrel catch frogs and snakes often.

I know the blue heron can take big fish easily. Fake gators failed, lobbing pellets in his vicinity does work. (Illegal to kill them)

That’s a male, 30” long, maybe 40 lbs, best guess 30-50 years old.

All were relocated to the Schuylkill River.

I removed a small snapper out of our pond last summer. Took it to a farm pond.
