Th' bloomin' Iris has done it to me again. I went out to the fish pond intending to "thin the herd" as they've taken over half the bog. Only to find this:

And a blue million of these:

So I guess I'll let them quit blooming before I take action.

next time you have pruners in hand, close your eyes when you head on out; solves your problem. You can't have any sympathy when you can't see them bloomin'! Oh, and wear earmuffs/phones so you don't heare their lil bitty cries of distress as you shear through them...

I have nothing against the purple ones except they take over everything! I have ripped them out and planted them in several places in the yard and now they have spread and taken over there as well! They are worse than the yellow ones.

Can any of you offer advice on why my irises aren't blooming? When I first moved here, 7 years ago, they had great blooms. The following year was also good but for the past few years we have only gotten a handful of blooms each year. Am I doing something wrong?

The purple/black is so slow growing!!
I have the common yellow and it's taken over again after I tossed half of it out a few years ago.
I have 2 purple and they're still such tiny little bundles. =(

I have yellow ones, quite a lot of them, growing around the perimeter of the pond and also some that are growing in the water. Of the dozens of plants, I think I only got 5 blooms last year and no sign of blooms coming on this year so far.
