wouldn't it be quicker if you just started up the kubota, closed your eyes, and put her in gear for one pass????
ummm yes but then all the plants would be gone. I do have a bush hog on it that I use along the woods once the bug and bee friendly plants are done blooming.

I also have miniature cat tails in the bog. They are hardy and come back every year.
@poconojoe I wanted to plant miniature cat tails but concerned by people saying how hard it is to get rid of and how crazy it grows. Sounds like you are happy with yours?

The weird thing is I have never gotten any actual cat tails from these plants!
I got the plants from a friend years ago.
When I built the bog last year, I moved them from pond to the bog.
They haven't been invasive, could just be the variety. I really don't know.
I wish they would grow little cat tails already!

Mine get the cat tails and pop out tons of seeds, I try to cut them of before they go crazy. They are in my hot tub pond, a bit controlled.

I grow petasites japonicus by my pond and the unopened spring flowers are delicious. You have to blanch it first though. Some people find it too bitter but my country loves them. You can also harvest the stem(blanch too) and eat them anytime of the year.
I don’t grow it but Oenanthe javanica is also edible and very well suited for bog.
