squidhead,you are correct sir..with enough flow (effectiveness goes up with flow increase).and when its really a venturi..not just a black ABS sreet pipe tee with an open end...altho that will break the syphon effect if the pump should stop.

i am working on figuring out how to add a venturi to my bog. The water fall will add O2 to the pond, but i want extra O2 to make it to the bog.

i am trying to decide if i should put in on the output side of the pump into the bog.

Great forum!

To make a "true" venturi you will have some head loss. The venturi should be right after the pump or right on the pumps output. I had some good links but they are lost on my dead laptop. I'll try to find a good DIY or Just get a Rio pump

they come with the venturi attachment. You could put it in your filter, in your pond, in a gravity fed basin, or just in directly in the pond or bog and just get creative with camouflaging the power cord and airline.
