Well thankfully it ended up just kissing us and hittingthe Bristol channel instead we did still get a huge amount of rain and we had winds up to gusts of 70-80 mph , things got blown about in our garden and the new polycarbomate sheets not yet in use where all over the place.
I went out to gie them a feed around 0400 am this morning more to check really if they were OK, they were the polycarbonate sheets in use stayed put as did the rocks , we did however get a drop in temperature to 16.8c from 17.4c.
Would you believe we acctually awoke to blue skies this morning lol.
The high winds are by no means finished with the UK but they have leadt us behind and are heading east towards the North sea coastline then the Continent and is looking to hit Holland at the moment.
Holland is especially at risk with all its reclaimed land (all bellow sea level) .

One of the things I like about being on this forum, is the geography lessons! So now I know where Plymouth is!

Glad the storm decided to miss you! Some times all you can do is say a prayer and turn it over to God!

Glad to hear the worst of the storm missed you. Been watching the reports on tv and it really looks like a nasty storm. We lucked out with hurricane Sandy last year. Lots of rain but no damage.

From what I have just learnd from the news it acctually hit us but by the time this one got to speed it was a county further on we did have trees down flooding trains stopped on racks and some power out but not us .
But from Dorst onwards it did some major damage killing at least 4 people winds brought down swathes of trees along the rail network delaying housands of comuters more power outs this time to half a million homes it even felled a large crane on one of the seats of government .
By the time it had left us we had some serious damage done.
Say a prayor to for the people of Denmark its now hit the with gusts of over 110 mph and is headed out ppast them into the baltic so I would hat to be at sea there .
Its going to take a few days for the coplete picture to come in but I think this baby has a way to go before its finished .
The name they have given this baby by the way is St Jude.

I was contemplating starting another thread called Battern down the hatches 2 but thought our original thread would do..
On the weather forcast tonight weve been warned that yet another storm with winds of 70 mph + is basically tracking towards us across the atlantic OMG......
It should be with us near the weekend much to say we are not looking forwards to it.
Will keep you posted as to if we catch this one square on or not.
Just what on earth is happening to our weather , this used to be unheard of , is global warming becoming fact.... I know one or two of your fellow country men who would say yes to this after being through the mother of all storms the Hurricane.

Oh, not much doubt about climate change among well informed folk. How did places with shallow sand beaches cope with high tide?

Weston Super Mare looks like it might catch it bad if there was a surge on the Bristol Channel

The latest has it set to hit our coast Friday or Saturday with winds as I previously said yup I think Global warming is a fact and we need to start wising up to it rapidly its time that cars started to run on something else other than oil/gas/petrol.
Our power needs to be clean energy, I feel sorry for future generations what we are doing to the planet now.

\Thankfully it seems the wind will be gusting between 40-50 mph with heavy rain which is far better than the 70 mph gusts they were talking about the other day, It shouldnt take to long to clear the bottom drain and vortex out then I can just add the hose through the dechlorinator unit and come back indoors to sit until the 30-40% water change completes itself then turn things on and remove the dechlorinator unit.

Always nice when nature helps you out w/ a job!
Sounds like your weather has taken a turn for the better. Ours won't be so bad here either. I think inland here will be 30 - 40 mph,w/ harder winds on the coast. Lots of rain coming too. We shall be driving in it as we have a health fair to attend on Saturday. No working on the pond for me as I'm a fair weather ponderer unless an extreme emergency pops up :cheerful:
