Filled up the pond today! Probably, a huge waste of water but I am planning on rocking the coping shelf first and wanted to "fit" the liner to the pond. Also, making sure there are no leaks. Tomorrow I will drain, add some cobble to the shelves to keep the liner in place then weather permitting start trying to "wrestle" these boulders into place.

Ended up with about 10' extra of liner on the bog side, so should be able to make the bog a bit larger than I had planned, which is a bonus.

Kids already have their hands in the pond and are going to love it when its done.

Oh, and I even placed my first stone today. Flat boulder overlooking the deep section.

Magnificent ,,, your hard work will pay off every time you come home. The hard part will be getting to work on time... one other tidbit for you. All the folds in the rubber that are only a couple inches above water level where they bend over to horizontal. The water can actual wick its way up and out of the liner. Caulk those folds before you install your boulders or finish the edging take away the gap /straw

i would also buy a water gauge so you know how many gallons you have this will be indispensable if medicating the pond becomes necessary

I'd do caulk but if it gets to big, foam it, then a skim coat of caulking over it

YOU COULD NEVER HAVE HDRPE make those bends. It' realy looks pretty cool. i'd almost not rock the pond other than the coping and bog maybe a boulder here or there in the pond down below

Looks great! Fun time for the kids, too, it looks like. Get ready to be surprised by how much the pond shrink’s you add boulders.

Do you have fabric down under the liner?

I was thinking about that yesterday. Going to mix boulders with cobble to not take up as much space. How did you place all your boulders? Excavator?

Yes, for the most part. Some of the smaller ones—150 lbs and less—I placed by hand.

Thought I was going to get rained out today, however, ended up being a very productive day. Drained the pond first thing and placed some cobble along edges to hold it in place. Placed overlayment in intake bay chamber and got the matrix blocks and pump vault set. Today was the day I was going to try moving one of my largest bolders into position (center of bog wall). I told myself if I couldnt do it I may need to rent machinery or rely on a second set of hands. With my handtrack and placing 2x8x10s from one side to the next I was able to actually move it in place! And, not only that one, I was able to complete what I am calling the bog wall! Still in shock i was able to move some of these very large boulders myself. I am not sure what they weigh but a few were definately quite a bit heavier than my 360lb liner. Not out of the woods as I still have a few more boulders as large or larger than the big one in the center of the pic, I can probably grab a neighbor when I am ready to place them.

I added a few arrows where I plan to have water spilling over from the bog into the pond.

Overall, ended up being a great day of work on the pond and I am excited about the progress!

Coming along nicely , ...........I'D MAKE UP MY MIND SOONER THAN LATTER AS TO THE MACHINE RENTAL... damn caps.. you were a busy boy, im betting one who's feeling he was busy. . If your working the top down isn't that going to make for a bit of a nightmare going over the upper boulders and trying to get to the bottom. i know you have all sides to work from but even still.

I'm feeling the falls on the right the left might be hard to see the water as it may just slide down the rock and not create white water

Seems your rocks are all pretty much the same size it might be worth it to go buy a couple completely different shaped rocks. this will help break up the string of pearls.

Not knocking your work you get a solid A . It's just advice from years of watching many builds and being a builder.
