I've decided to go down this road so I just need to decide on slotted or perforated. Slotted is probably better. It comes in 6 m lengths so I will put two lengths down the full length of the bog filter. The stormcrates should be suitable and would do the same job as the Aquascape Aquablocs. With the stormcrates, there should be enough dispersal across the bottom of the filter. I'll take photos as we go a long.

I couldn't find an Easypro stockist in the U.K but I have found an alternative to the Aquascape Aquablox. I'm planning on using my existing pond for my bog filter which is 12 foot by 6 ft approx and then dig a new pond. As there is a bit of a slope, I can have a waterfall into the pond and then an intake bay for the pump. The storm crates are 100 x 100 x 400 mm and hold 400 litres of water. I can fit 4 in the existing pond which will give me a reservoir of 1600 litres so how do I calculate how much water I can filter? my existing pump is an Aquaforce 14000 which they say has a flow rate of 6000 litres per hour and is suitable for a pond with goldfish, up to 14000 litres. By these calculations, I am going to need another pump. The pump can be used amphibiously so I was planning on doing this as it makes it easier so I could just double up on my existing pump. I've had it 12 months and I'm impressed at how well it handles solids. Do you have an other suggestions? I have the space to build the pond to any size but I am restricted to the size of the bog filter can manage. I would like to keep a few koi and shabumkins. Any other ideas?

Using the old pond as the new bog the question is how will you make it water proof. Photos and a list of goals helps

I need too re dig it as it is only 18 inches deep so I need to get a new liner. The pond is leaking so it needs attention.

There are some online articles that state the bog gravel should only be 12" deep. They claim any deeper will not allow enough oxygen to keep the good bacteria alive. But there are many members on this site that have built deeper without any problems, for years. In some cases very deep. Some have even incorporated an air supply into the bottom of their bog. So, it's another one of those subjects where you wonder...is there really a wrong way to do it?

I would like to build a pond that is 11 ft x 16 ft, 3 ft deep (25 x 20 x 1 m deep), but the reality may be that it will be slightly smaller than that. I've calculate that this size of pond will hold 20,000 litres so need a pump that can handle this volume of water. I've always gone by the saying "fish never died through over filtration". so does this ethos apply to a bog filter or do I need this level of filtration if I'm going to keep koi?
