Dont think and...algae are part of the pond, and string ones are good for filtration too. I will keep em, made the waterfall more natural plus the things above.

Some like @sissy have used food grade Hydrogen Peroxide poured on it and it kills it and does not hurt the fish they say but then you still have to get the dead stuff out w/a clean toilet brush or whatever works to drag it all out.

This is why i like to empty the pond. The pond is crystal clear until the algae makes it look like this.
Disgusting.

Looks like to me tho he still needs to haul some of that dead algae out w/a toilet brush otherwise like he says it clogs up his filter fast.

I was thinking about segregating the pumps from the rest of the pond with a screen mesh.

Sorry but not to my knowledge . However you can add more plants to your pond the more plants demand the same nutrients the less algae you will have i would also look at adding some moss in the stream and falls area they are in the same category but can relay flip things around visually

You will still have to lift out all that dead stuff as you can't just let it sit in there and destroy your pond water.

I filter with only plants and never get the string algae in the main ponds. The plants eat up the nutrients the string needs.

String algae is a symptom, not a problem. Some is good - like oil on your skin; too much is bad. But it's TELLING you something. But keep emptying your pond and scrubbing it clean - nature will just keep playing along with you and repeating the cycle. Right now she's telling you that you have too many nutrients (fish waste, overfeeding, dead organics) and not enough plants to handle it. So HERE YOU GO! Have some ALGAE! Your fish are grateful it's there, I guarantee you. Otherwise they'd likely be dead.

Sorry if that sounds harsh, but it's a POND not a POOL.
