I got my air pump from petsmart a few years ago and it just sits on the ground next to the pond in the mulch. I haven't had it covered either. It gets rained on. I might have to do something with it this winter since this will be the first winter I'll leave the pond going all winter. So far I haven't had any problems.

I used an old tuperware container to put my air pump in. Cut some small holes to route the electric wire and air lines through then just snapped the lid back on. Keeps most if not all rain or snow out.

I hear that the ceramic air stones last longer but guess they cost an arm and a leg for the bigger ones! I don't know what kind to buy now as I was all set to get the ones sissy had from Bigals but they are gone. Think addy sent me a link for ones online but they were on ebay and coming from hong kong and wasn't sure that was the right place or not or safe to buy from.

Pretty cheap too sissy and wish I could have got some before they stopped. Maybe they will turn up again somewhere. I can't even find the 2" blue ones anywhere. Do they say exactly 2" on the package or order that you got? Also was wondering if you can just use the one big air tube line to stick into one big huge air stone or do you have to use that diffuser thingy on the end that has all the different outputs to hook a bunch of air stones too? I mean is there some kind of safety measure on wear and tear in there on the pump using those instead of one big flat air stone?

My air pump has 4 ports on it for air to come out and yep they said 2 inch on them .I also bought those long rubber type air diffusers that look like hoses ,they are worthless .I did find the at petco once .Maybe big als found they were not a big cash item .

Thanks sissy I'll check them out but that's just a bit bigger than an inch. I prolly need the bigger ones as I have an AP40 deep water air pump 2900 cu.in./min.Hose Size: 5/8" I.D. (Tubing Not Included)
Includes 6-1/2" Air Diffuser with 12 Barbed Outlets (Connect 3/16" ID tubing)

See what I mean? Can't I just do away w/ the 12 barbed outlet thingy and just use the main tube to attach to one big air stone? Or wondering if that would hurt the pump?

The link I sent you is where I got mine from, they got here in about 7 days. Work great too.

You can buy that adapter you have on the end with turn off valves for each outlet .Mine is metal and has 6 but I am only using 5 of them and the other one is turned off
