no its not a venturi, a venturi works in an entirely differant way, and no it doesnt create "large burps" i get constant bubbling from it, bubbles of differant sizes , it doesnt give as much aeration as a air stone or pressurised venturi would, but as i say above it is just additional to my waterfall,

I"m running a pondmaster ap20 to four air stones in different locations in the pond and 1 in the skimmer near the media. I have it on a timer so it comes at night and off in the morning
