good luck addy you may end up being a pond rescuer too .Just buy a big tote with a lid and double the tote up or one of those garbage cans will work too .

We have a bunch of those large rubbermaid containers from my move with lids, so could transfer the easily.

I stopped by to check on the abandoned fish after work last night, fearing I'd find more dead, possibly by my own misguided attempt to aerate them with petroleum distillates instead of oxygen! But they looked much better last night. I didn't see any evidence of ich. Still haven't bought a pump yet.

Later on the internet I studied the difference between goldfish and koi so I should be able to figure out what they are tonight when I look in on them. From memory I believe they're goldfish because some have big bellies and long flowing tails unlike the sleeker looking koi.

While I've never had a fish pond, I did have five aquariums in my 12x12" bedroom as a teenager! I have a fondness for fish.

The main thing to look for is the barbells next to the mouth of the fish. Goldfish don't have koi do.

Don't buy a pump unless you want to, we should be able to move them pretty quick. What time to you get home? I would not want to come over unless you are there.

Honey says let us know when you get home from work, i.e. time, we could be there tomorrow to pick up the fish.

re: the abandoned pond: they are definitely goldfish and there are 14 of them. No evidence of ich. One of them may be pregnant or else has a very big belly. They are sucking air at the top of the water again, so I think getting them rescued quickly is important.

I'm home now and will be for the rest of the evening.

Email me off list at (e-mail address removed) and we'll make arrangements.

Terri

Hoping all goes well w/ the rescue. Maybe that fat one is one of those fantail ones that naturally have fat bellies or a product of that line anyways?
