A New Pond in the Pocono Mountains

The cattails are doing well, the Anacharis is picking up, and the hayacinth put out another flower this week. The grass is coming up well around the pond, and my 6 sarassa comets have gotten a wee bit larger and seem to like the pond.

Since our pond will be in the Southern sun all day, I decided to build a sun block. This is my progress so far. I will stain it to match the pond and cover it with sun shade cloth.

remember to allow the sun in the winter or you could freeze the pond deeper than normal .I use shade fabric over my hoop house over the pond .I bought mine at sams club end of season

This sun block is removable (it just sits on the pond frame) and will be covered with shade cloth for the hotter months.

I finally finished the sun canopy I built to match the pond....had been procrastinating covering it with shade cloth....but since the weather is supposed to turn hot this wee, I figured I better get it done.

great job and yep most of the country is going to see a hot wave .I had to give up outside way to hot already .Still have to water veggies
