Oh my god. I have heard that snakes can follow the trail of other snakes to find spots to hunt and build dens. Maybe you have to eliminate the trails? I know they hate the smell of ammonia and mothballs...

On a funny note, when I googled this the first suggestions were "get rid of the food source and eliminate any standing water"... well, maybe not so funny after all!

Ooh! That is a big one! But they don't give birth until late in Summer, so you have plenty of time to catch her before that might happen. Good luck with the trapping.

lmao fill in all the ponds, kill off the frogs........................ will keep the battle going.
I am thinking of cooking the eggs I am going to add to the traps, besides the fake ones. Maybe they won't rot as fast, ie stay in once piece.

My neighbor has some small ones she is going to give me.

Thanks may even buy more traps, but they also get fish, frogs, tads in them. So a lot of daily checking for good critters. My neighbor took over the checking while we were on the boat, she released frogs etc.

And would have removed snakes if need be. one goooooood neighbor! Left her a big trash can to dump them into, if any caught, but none.

THAT IS ONE THICK SNAKE.. i have nothing to say

Take a five gallon water jug cut it in half just where it tapers at the top usually just above the handle turn the top around and place the top so it is now inside the bottom secure with a couple holes drilled in the plastic and zip tied. i would also add a sock or nylon attached the same way at the opening but make sure its stays open for the snake to go in but collapse when it tries to find the way out. it takes as long to make one as it does for me to type this out

What a PITA, you have a lot of patience….hopefully at some point you can catch/remove all of them. As much as I love nature and animals especially reptiles, like @GBBUDD would have had a .22 out or something a long time ago to solve the problem.

I never see them on land, only in the pond. Refuse to shoot in or towards the pond. A hole in the liner would be worse than the darn snakes!

Neat idea, will add that trap to my others. On land or in the water? On land they may see it as a nice home.

That would make sense, I wouldn’t do that either, unfortunately our ponds are naturally snake havens for any species with a food source and all the hides holes and basking spots you can ask for with the rocks.

No kidding and I have a TON of rocks all over the yard pond area, stream, small ponds, the big pond rock wall, etc etc.

BTW the new dock wood at the marina is wonderful!

Thanks, glad you like it. We have your dock done, just a little more to do on D dock and replace the stairs from the parking lot.

Seems you will need a ton of moth balls but maybe if you know for sure where they enter.............well they would prolly just go around to another area. First I thought that big snake was in the trap, then I saw that nope that sucker is just passing by............yikes it is huge!
