Could it be sun exposure?
Maybe you get more sun than me. I don't get much direct sunlight on my pond.
My ponds are full sun, minimal to no string algae. I think it is because my bog is large, full of plants, the pond has plants the small ponds have plants. The string has no food.

My pond is shaded by these birch trees. Maybe 60% full sun. I get string algae all summer but less later on.
