I am looking for suggestions for floating water filters - something like a Roomba - that could be used to help maintain water quality in two cement ponds that have been colonized by ducks. The existing pump and filter system is not able to keep up with the duck "debris" and so we are hoping that a thorough clean out and the addition of a floating filter system will lighten the load for the existing pump and filter.

This is for two ponds in a public park. Each is about 43 feet in diameter, with a depth of about 4 feet.

Thank you in advance!

and welcome neighbor @SeattleOlmsted
I grew up in Seattle. Sorry to say it is not the place it used to be but than that's true w/a lot of big cities now.
There are filters that float but I have not heard of a filter that floats around like a Roomba. Which park is this?

Volunteer Park - the lily ponds. They are now essentially duck ponds and the filter system is not keeping up.

Someone at Underwater Warehouse might be able to help you. I think there are items that are floating islands to help with water quality but you probably needed something stronger for that size.

Been there many times back in my hippy days in the late 60's and after I survived that too. Was a beautiful place :)

I just saw online what those ponds look like now...............not good. Seems there is quite the controversy over the ducks. Ponds not so pretty anymore for sure. Hope you can fix the problems w/some kind of a filter.

I THINK YOUR QUACKING UP THE WRONG POND. A public pond with all day UNLIMITED feedings and constant deposits of poop The amount of energy needed to try and clear the water would be insane. a wetland filter could do the job but you would need probably the size of a third pond to do it. and in time it would get overloaded . RDF FILTERS WOULD STAND A CHANCE BUT AGAIN LOTS OF CIRCULATION and i bet it would take 4 of the largest they have AND THEN A COUPLE BEAD FILTERS .

ORRRRRR you put up a sign DON'T FEED THE WILDLIFE

I’m sorry to say, you will need to move the ducks out. The ponds are not large enough to sustain them. There are humane ways to do this, such as egg shaking volunteers or hired border collies. ;)
