Any fans of the winter Olympics here on the forum? I love watching them, even more so than the summer Olympics. So many great sports to watch. It also falls at a time of year where there isn't a lot to do, so it definitely helps boredom for the next couple of weeks. I'm rooting for Team USA, but I just want to see great competition regardless of who wins each event. Great competition means everyone wins. It's great seeing the world come together, if only for a short time.

I'm not a big fan of figure skating, which is unfortunate because it's the most televised event during the Olympics, but I do love the majority of other winter sports, especially when skis and snowboards are involved. I love watching curling, too. I imagine most people find it boring, but it looks like a fun sport and when you get into it, it can be pretty intense.
I've been working on some digital art today. It's something I'm new to and experimenting with. Created this one just about an hour ago.

We love the Olympics! My daughter had the opportunity to work the Salt Lake City Olympics in 2002, which really sparked our love for the Winter games.

I will say we watched the figure skating last night and were kind of disappointed - it was the team skating event and I don't know that we saw more than a couple of clean programs. EVERYONE was falling, even our top male skater, Nathan Chen. They said the Israeli male skater did a good job, but then they didn't show it because they were profiling Chen. It just seemed like most of the skaters were kind of off their game.

We did enjoy watching the mogul ski jumping - holy cow is that a fast way to get down a hill!

I saw that, and they've been promoting him like crazy over the last few months.
I was watching the NBCSN coverage for most of the night. Our US mix doubles curling team did terrible, too. They've won one our of four games, and they lost their last game
9-1.

I've seen them play before, on the Olympic Channel when they were competing to make the Olympics. They're a great team, just not yesterday. The pressure's getting to them. They're also from Wisconsin, which is pretty cool.

I saw a profile on them, too - brother-sister pair. Curling is an interesting sport - I always thought it was more of a game, like horseshoes or croquet or bocce ball. But it does take some specialized skills!

Been watching it from the very start and love the snowboarding events etc but the organisers need sacking for allowing allot of events to take part in such high winds when it was obvious conditions in many of these events should have been cancelled till the winds dissipated somewhat , its lucky that nobody has so far hurt themselves badly.

Chloe Kim kicked butt last night, as expected. I mean, the digital art in my first post is her. Hopefully Shaun White can do it tonight.

From what I originally heard about the women's slopestyle competition, it was the only available time frame left for that competition after already being delayed from the previous day's winds. If that's true, they had no choice but to let the athletes compete in those conditions. They were rough conditions, but that can happen with outdoor sports from time to time.

Shaun White did win it, by the way! Rooting for Mikaela Shiffrin tonight.
