Which way would be better to set up a pond

I'm thinking of how I am going to setup the pond. The pump I have is around a 330 gallon and around a 250 gallon pond. Would it be have going into the filter intake first then the ourbound hooked up to the pond intake and then the outbound to the waterfall (filter, pump, then waterfall)?. Or would it be better to go pump, filter, then waterfall?

The best set-up is pre-filter (Mechanical filtration)--pump--biological filtration--waterfall.
