Where so I even begin?

This is the pond that came with our house. That is all there is too it. It is 50 gallong, above the ground with 3 fish and some plants. No filter system at all as the thing attached to the side of the pond is not connected to anything.

I really want to get this cleaned up so we can enjoy it, see the fish, and make it a nice water feature in the yard.

I have no idea where to begin with this and would like to have it be an inexpensive and mostly do it ourselves kind of project.

Any help would be awesome!

Check the diy section you could make a nice little filter with a small pump that would keep your pond clean. check the doc filter and the skippy diy filters.

No clue what the thing is attached to the side, maybe that was their filter.

For a 50 gallon tub used as a pond, you best bet is to buy a submersible pump that has a built in filter mesh. You will have to clean the foam mesh often, but it is your best bet. You definetly need 24 hour circulation.

Check harbor freight, they have some cheap submersible pumps with filtration like he says.
