my little 160 gal box pond had a fish die off as I posted earlier. I think one fish died and was hidden and caused water pollution and other fish died. so we lost 3 of our 6 gf.
that's not really the problem though what the issue is that they don't come up much to eat and since we removed the koi (got them to make everyone else friendly) The problem is my wife is blind and I made the pond for her so she could see and pet the fish. but after the die off she can't really see them as they are not very social.
myself I like building the pond and doing the plants and such but I get bored after a bit so they really are more for her then me. So I am debating on spending more for more gf hoping they will start coming up more making a indoor pond that's well lighted so she can see and interact with them better or just selling it all off.
it's not had to build a box for indoors but I would need a non black liner to make it work. I can use my pump and filter I have now and plumb it outside so it is easy to drain water for the weekly water change. a little harder is getting water to the tank.

How about a large fish tank, that you mount low to the ground so she can reach into it. If you watch craigs list a lot of people get rid of tanks all of the time.

it would be more of a wooden box with a light colored liner I think. that would cost far less then a clear tank. as long as the inside is light colored she can see in it well. it would sit on the floor and maybe 200 gallons.

Look for those old billboards they sale, the vinyl works as a pond liner and is usually white.

I did this once before made a wooden box lined it with thin plexiglass and sealed the edges together. but I can get vinyl from my sign vender it is dirt cheap. maybe a glass face would be nice though that would add to the cost.
Now I wonder if my laguna pressureflo filter would be ok? I know tanks usually have finer filtration. I also have the 600 gap pump to go with it.
if I wanted to pay the power I could heat it and have some tropicals too.

I am sure it would work, you are sort of making an inside pond.

Around here we are starting to see plastic stock tanks in a light gray colour; might be an option. John
