My raised pond is a liner within a square of railway sleepers. I need to paint the sleepers as they have got quite stained over the years and I would like to know what is the best paint to use. Many thanks. Bill

Are your sleepers repurposed from a railroad or new ones you purchased for garden use? Reason I ask is some of the older rail sleepers might be treated with creosote or some other chemical. In that case, I would check to see what can be applied over that. My wood is treated with Behr Stain, and it is very durable. You mentioned paint. In that case, I would use something like a swimming pool paint. Again, first check to see if it will adhere.

TRY PRESSURE WASHING THEM FIRST you will be surprised what you have when your done. But if you still want to color it i agree with other i would go with a clear preservative deck stain or a solid color stain NO PAINT
