Your trees and yard are all gorgeous, Sissy. I'm wondering the difference of the Bradford Pears and the Cleveland Pears. We have the Bradfords here, and they are gorgeous in the spring with white blossoms and now are that burgandy colored leaf with deep green also. I suspect one of your type, maybe the taller thinner ones, are the Cleveland Pears? Are they hardier in the wind than the Bradford Pears? The Bradfords in our area that were planted in the last probably 15-20 years are all taking a beating in the wind gusts and storms we have occasionally in the spring, fall and winter. Lots of the trees are half gone, huge branches break off, in the wind. I thought it was supposed to be mostly sunny today, so heading out late morning to transplant my tall and short irises and finally plant the day lilies I bought at least 2 months ago. (Been too dry to even think of digging in the ground.) Well, got all that done, but man it was windy and mostly cloudy! Chilly, only about 53 outside, but feels much colder. I just put on rain pants (so I wouldn't get wet kneeling down) and sweatshirt with wind breaker, and that seemed to do the trick. Stayed warm, but now very happy to be back inside and just listening to the wind, instead of being out in it. Tomorrow I will checkout why my skimmer pump is not pushing as much water as it should. Pretty sure something is plugged in the water line. Will flush it again and see if that doesn't take care of the issue. Water level is too high in both ponds anyhow. :-)
