Koi, goldfish, shubunkins, a couple crayfish, some trapdoor snails, a handful of frogs of all sizes, and the occasional wandering turtle. And lots and lots and lots of microscopic critters that do their part in the pond ecosystem. We can't see them, but we appreciate them, too!

Thirty + goldfish: a mix of Watonai, Wakin, Shubunkins, a few fantails, a Ryunkin, comets, and a few commons. Then, there are the babies that are probably a mix of all-of-the-above.

Trapdoor snails.

A couple of frogs and toads call the area home.

My box turtles are in a separate habitat, but they have a bog that is shared with the pond via PVC conduit.

Can I please assume that your pics are from last year? Man, I can't wait for my pond to look pretty and green like your pics!
I have too many koi (22 I think), bullfrogs, Northern Cricket frogs, and the occasional painted turtle that comes to visit mid summer. In my goldfish pond I have goldfish, shubunkins, fantains, bullfrogs and small peeper and NC frogs, and the turtle usually jumps ponds daily.

When I was a kid, we would check out the bluegill "nests" they made in the mud. Must have been where eggs or babies were laid/born. So, if that's their normal habitat, wonder how they would do in a pond with no mud on the bottom? What about an albino catfish? Do they grow as fast as the other catfish? Keep in mind, when you want to catch a fish, they don't want to be caught. I've found catching fish before the water warms is the easiest time, or after it gets really cold. They slow down a lot, and are easier to net. Otherwise, they are VERY hard to net, especially if you have anything in your pond (shelves, rocks, pots of plants, etc.) for them to hide behind.
