Had coffee this morning, went to the airport to change oil, then to the bank, and back home. Mowed grass around the goldfish pond. got the leaves out of the swimming pond, Put the puppy in her play pen, (about a acre fenced) and found a wet spot by the bog at the fish pond. I'd hoped it would hold up until the weekend, when I'll be renovating the bog. So I'll be shutting it down this evening, and it will stay that way 'till Saturday. The main pond is big enough that the lack of water flow won't hurt it. And I have the skimmer/bubbler still going in the main pond.

Anyway; I got the new bog up and running. As expected water is cloudy with silt from the pea gravel. And ended up with what seems to be a bazillion Iris, and tricolored grassy stuff.
The old bog with the unused plants, Iris in the back.

Very nice!

I would not add more gravel, let it settle run for awhile. I had to raise my edge by 3-4 inches after a year.

Edge too low is why I hadda re do it. I'd already raised the edge twice, and this time, I decided to just make it bigger. ;)

YOUR BLACK FOAM WILL TURN RUSTY BROWN after the sun gets to it. NICE WORK if you have one those vibrating detailers work well to trim back the over expanded foam.

Thank you for sharing this picture! My bog excavation is almost the same shape and orientation with the main pond - it's really fun to see how it looks all completed!
