Hi guys
I built this waterfall and now I realize I need to avoid overflow with rain and stuff, how can I put an overflow pipe without making it visible. Thanks

Hello and welcome!

Can you post some more pics so we can see the entire water feature, as well as see where and how you have it plumbed?

You could hire someone that owns a pail and have them run over the next time it rains...;)

@Dr.evil
Looks like you could drill a small 1" to 2" hole in the side hidden under the lip and cover it w/screen in case there are fish in there. If no fish then no screen needed.

Did you want the overflow to drain to some place in particular? Otherwise, why not just let it... well... over flow? If it's raining hard enough to over fill your feature, would it really matter if there was a little more water?

A simple gap under the cap is one simple way . the water simply never goes over the cap it just leaches from below the cap

If you want it to overflow in a particular direction, you could make a small drainage hole at the level you want it towards the top. Like a sink overflow hole. If it is a really big rain, I agree with the comment it seems ok to just overflow around all edges if it actually got that high. Will you have fish and filtration?

The white PVC pipe you put in will not help with overflow, since water will not flow uphill unless under pressure. The water would have to be above the highest point in that pipe to flow out, and the pipe is above the highest possible water level as it appears to me.

You can test what happens if it is overflowing with rain by overfilling it with a hose and see what the water does.

Seeing your photos I still think there's no reason you can't just let it flow over the top. If the rain is heavy enough to fill the basin, the surrounding landscape will already be soaked, so it won't hurt anything. It looks like you have quite a ways to go to fill it up, if I'm judging correctly from the photos.

If however you'd rather the overflow go in a certain direction, then a hole in the side is really your only choice.

Very nice pond!

Welcome to the forum. I agree a hole in the side would be your best option, or just let it flow out into the yard.

Thanks guys
There is no fish and the challenge of making a hole is little challenging
I have a pond liner that is 4 inches or so below the wall tops so I could drill a hole into the tile through the bricks I guess. Or let it just overflow.
I appreciate it.
