I am new to this thread. I am a seasoned ponder. Recently my pond needed a face lift, everything is out. I am working on an old waterfall bio box, which no longer has exterior liner attachment under the spillway lip. Crew areas are rusted out. Is the attachment needed if waterfall box is tilted more aggressively towards the pond?

Welcome to the forum, thanks for the pics.

As long as you can keep the liner in place without water getting behind it, you should be ok I think.

Can the rusted inserts be removed and replaced with stainless steel inserts? Is there an attachment plate that sandwiches the liner between it and the bio box?

That appears to be a waterfall weir. So long as the attachment area is above the water line more than say say 6 inches a quick bead of caulking and let it dry should do the trick. Just enough to catch any trickle running back. That attachment point is the back yes?
I'd use that wier to start a waterfall of a foot or more. But I would also cut it as I'm not one for sheet flow waterfalls as in nature there's no such animal as perfect.
