Well, IMO, nothing's better than wading around in the pond. At least until the weather turns cold, then.... Yeah, no thank you. I do like having the long handled reach of a cutting tool for that last clean up in Fall. I do have waders I can don, but.... sometimes it's simply not worth that effort.

I bought something very similar ro what @BKHpondcritters linked to. Mine are made by Fiskar......I wish they were a little longer like the ones linked above. I clip the spent pad then use a net to scoop it up :)

Sorry i don't know whats up with amazon lately, THERES A PAIR OF TONGS SIMILAR TO THE ONES BELOW where they have a replacement head that is two cutters instead of being tongs. they would do the job, but i can't find the cutters only the tongs.

Ahhhhh i found out why i can't find the cutters . they got smart and made a design change the cutters are built in to the one head now.

Garosa aquarium Tongs Plastic Trimming Tools Multi Purpose Plant Pruning Pliers Cleaner for Fresh and Saltwater Fish Tanks.

they may come with them from the description but i can't see them

I'm with @BKHpondcritters - I won't give up my weekly pond dips for anything! I love getting in and wandering around. So much more than just lilies that need trimming, adjusting, playing around with in the pond. That final dip in the fall is just darn INVIGORATING! Ice plunges have become the trendy thing to do now - maybe I'll keep climbing in until the ice is just too thick!

Thats when my weeding gets done. i have a floating box that i bring with me around the pond and pull the weeds . makes it so much easier bending over only 3 feet compared to 6 feet being outside the pond

I used to love getting into the pond too, but because nervous about infections through small cuts etc, so wear waders. The waders are a bit of a hassle and if I bend too far, water gets in them.....plus with a bare liner bottom covered in algae, the pond's bottom is slick.

Thanks for that, those look good. WAY better than wading IMO :)
I'm trapped in a rabbithole, looking at these at the moment: https://www.walmart.com/ip/The-Pond-Guy-Pond-Scissors-Pliers/221366548
I saw one of those at a pond store. I was afraid of cutting a fish with the exposed razor blade and it seemed flimsy.

I got an Oase one with the blade and grabber that grabs what you cut off. The curve blade means it is harder for a fish to brush against the sharp area. The grabbing part is great. But it is tricky to always remember to have the grabbing end away from the base of the plant. I have to make sure I do it right and still do it backwards sometimes. There is a lock close feature for the blade.

I am glad I got it. The light has to be just right for me to see what I am cutting. I have cut off a healthy leaf twice by mistake and felt so guilty. The stems can be hard to follow all the way down.

I think it was worth the cost.
