Why are my new Water Hyacinth floating on there sides instead of roots down green part up? Why are the roots floating to the surface?

they very often will float on their sides at first when you buy them. this is due to being tightly "packed in" in their growing pond. they will adjust themselves in a short time. especially when they start shooting tubers out and multiplying they become very stable.

If you leave them connected to one another this helps them stay right side up. But as koiguy states they will right themselves up it will just take some time. Whenever I pull mine out of the creek and drop into the pond they have a tendency to lean on their side b/c they were so packed in to one another.

I appreciate that, these did indeed come from a very crowded pond and were growing very close to each other.
