Hi everybody.

It's been a while, i've just been so busy... and tired I kinda just accepted the fact my ponds will need another ton of work this spring... after my baby is born. :)

But I was wondering, if temperature change something in the clearing up of water ?

During Sandy there has been a lot of run off... the filter got clogged and it was too humid and slippery for me to go clean it. so I shut everything off. I finally put new pads in the filter but the water does not seem to clear up as it used to...

Have we just reached the point of no return with too much mud and I'll have to drain it all this spring or is it just the weather change, less activity and maybe less chemical reactions ?

I'm so annoyed really...

Mine gets clearer as it cools. it is probably all the muck from the storm that you will need to work out of the pond. And a algae bloom from all the good nutrients that flowed in with the runoff.

It sure might be from all the run off from that storm and you might need to turn off your filters so stuff can settle on the bottom and vacuum it out in the Spring or now if someone really feels like it and set up a basket w/ the pillow stuffing to catch all the fine particles of dirt. Darn that storm caused lots of problems w/ everything for a lot of people. My pond gets clearer also w/ the cold weather like addy said. Maybe somehow so this doesn't happen again you can make some kind of way for the mud to flow aways from your pond and not into it. Might have to make some kind of drainage area for it all to go to.

Ho !

Thx for the answers... even though it's depressing.

j.w it's planned for this spring... total cleaning of the pond again... and dig a dry stream deep enough with a liner to divert the water away from there... hopefully it will make me loose all the extra weight I gained (might be a positive way to look at it lol ...) but still I'm pissed.

I'm gonna shut everything off then and get the deicers out. I was looking forward to enjoy the pond in winter but I guess that won't be for this year.

Thx again :)

The fine dirt will settle without water movement, you may end up with nice clear water.
