6000 gallon koi pond with a Hayward 1 hp 60 gpm pump feeding a waterfall into the pond.
The flow from the fall is, to my mind, unnecessarily full.
I'd like to reduce it by half.
Has anyone experience with a variable speed pump?

We use a 4000-8000 variable speed pump from Aquascape. Works great. The reality though is we rarely change the speed. Once you get it where you like it, it pretty much stays. Every now and again I really ramp it up to clean off the waterfall, but I could do the same with a garden hose... and frequently need to hit it with the hose anyway.

You could also install a ball valve that you could use to reduce the flow - we have several on our system that we play around with. Or install a T in your line and push some water elsewhere. We direct some water through the bog, some through a small stream, and sometimes we use a small third line that feeds a water feature that we put into the bog. Lots to play with in a plumbing set up!
