Value or impact of plants on water quality?

I have an above ground 800 gallon pond. I check my water every week without fail all of my parameters currently are all in range. I am about to order plants for this year. My question is what impact or changes to my water quality should i expect after adding plants?

Sedge plants suck up the muck nicely! Many others are great muck sucking monsters also. We love plants!

Plants use up the end result of the nitrogen cycle, resulting in better water quality. If there are no plants, algae will set in to use it up, resulting in pea soup water.
