UV Wattage

I am just curious what the UV wattage recommendations are. Looking at different sites some say this and some say that. I was just wondering what others may have and the size of their ponds and how well it may do for them.

I have found suggested wattages ranging from 10W/150 gallons to 8-10W/1000 gallons.

I'm using 40W on approx 3500 gallons. I think I'm a tad undersized and would recommend 60W now.
I'm working on a new pond and will probably double to 80W for 7500 gallons and see how it goes.

ok I was just curious. I have some electronics knowledge and Im going to make 72 or 110 watt one depending which bulbs I use and Im at 7-8000 gallons depending on how full it is. Got the parts ordered not including my PVC and Clear PVC Im at 50 bucks. Clear PVC is expensive so total it is going to be about 80-100 dollars.

Cool..sounds like an interesting project. if the cost isn't significantly more and since you're building this from scratch, I'd go with the 110W design instead of the 72. IMHO.
