new to this pond thing and planning to do a roughly 2800 gl. pond , needed to ask is there a diference bettween a uv clarifier and a uv sterilizer?

These are the same basic piece of equipment. When it's billed as a clarifier, higher flow rates are allowed, but a significant portion of what goes through will survive. When the same gizmo is used a sterilizer, the manufacturer will specify a lower maximum flow rate, but more of the microbes will be killed on each pass. From the manufacturers specs I've seen, the size of pond the two approaches will keep clear of suspended algae is about the same.
