Uniseals Good or Bad ?

They work great if installed correctly. You do want a stable secure setup. For example you don't want the pipe to be able to snag over time or a pump close to a fitting and vibrating it.

Back in the day bulkhead fitting were expensive and I built a lot of filters. So for plastic 55 gal drums I tapped holes for a threaded PVC fitting. The tap was made using a threaded steel pipe end cap. File grooves perpendicular to the threads just like in a store bought tap. Cut the hole in the drum with a hole saw and tap like like you would with steel except no oil is needed. Screw in the threaded male connector, no need for sealer. Use a electrical conduit lock nut on PVC fitting to hold tight. But just a few holes the Uniseal can't be beat.

I used uniseals on a recycled 35 gallon fiber glass pacfab pool filter. I use it as a mechanical pre-filter. Filter has a 12" diameter (too tight for any bulkhead fittings) Uniseals worked perfect.
