Hi!

I’m a brand new pond owner and am inexperienced when it comes to pond maintenance. I have a small water garden and noticed that the water ran low for sometime, even after a good rain, so I figured there must be a leak.

I ruled out a leak in the liner because the water didn’t go down after shutting down the pump.

I found that the leak was in the tubing. The tubing is non-kink PVC tubing. When I found the culprit, the previous owners put a barbed connector and a fernco fitting on it.

I’m trying to reconnect the tubing and flexible pvc pipe was recommended. So my question is, can I connect the flexible pvc pipe to the non-kink, and if so, how?

I’ll attach the images. Thanks for the time!

Fittings on those kink free hoses are notoriously sketchy. I’m not aware of any other way to connect them than a barbed fitting with hose clamp, which is just a problem waiting to happen.

If at all possible, I would replace the full run with schedule 40 pvc—hard pipe or flex.

Thanks for the quick reply. I probably wouldn’t be able to replace run until the end of the week.

Is there a quick stop-gap solution you would recommend, just so I can get the water moving again?

Quick stop gap would be to cut out damaged section and patch in a new one with 2 barbed fittings.

That corregated non-kink pond tubing is horrible.
It's difficult to connect at times and it doesn't last very long. It's constantly springing leaks.

I agree with replacing it with schedule 40 ridgid or flex pvc.
