It probably has already been posted, but another plant that likes wet feet and will grow in rocks..... Lantana

My lantana comes back every year and spreads I guess from the seed at the end of the season
Wow! I am also in Virginia (right outside of DC), and Lantana is absolutely an annual here. My sister (who lives 3 miles away) has occasionally gotten it to return if we have a warm winter and she heavily covers it in leaf mulch, but I've never gotten it to return.

lol I get plants rated for here and they still die. My rule, you don't survive winter, you are history!

I live 15 minutes from the NC border so it comes back in protected areas of my yard or when the winters are milder ,lie this past winter .The ones planted near the house survive and the ones by other taller plants or have extra mulch around them survive

Probably won’t survive the winter.... but I have Kinda had a mission this year to discover what will grow in water and what won’t..... unfortunately more won’t.... but there’s always the surprise..... Jimmy

Also about the Lantana.... I tried one roots completely submerged.... didn’t work..... roots like plenty of water but need air also....
