I'd like to take a minute to introduce you all to Nigel and Maggie who own and run the wooden koi co
It all started out when their dog kept on getting out via a gate with a circle in the middle of it so Nigel cut out some koi shapes in wood and attached it to their gate, now this should be the end of the story but one day some koi friends arrived at their hme and someone said to them I like that koi shaped wood that you have in your gate what about painting it.
Maggie who has that artistick bent thought about it then set to work painting the koi then someone said hey I really like that could you please do one for me well, as you can gather word of mouth went out and before long Nigel and Maggie found themselves in business with the now named wooden koi co .
They started going to sows and again there works were egerly snapped up by other koi keepers until they found themselves globe trotting to places such as South Africa
We came across them again by word of mouth and we thought well if we buy some of their koi we can adorne the sides of it with a few it'll be a really nice finish to the pond.
We spent around £100 and bought six and were given a nice discount by Nigel.
The ones we bought are as follows :-
1) Tancho Kuhaku order number 335
2) Purichina order number 2011147
3) Yamabuki Ogon order number 201190
4) Sanke order number 274
5) Hi Utsuri order number 304
6) Kumonryu order number 201110
Check their website out they have some fantastic creations they will even do private orders
Even grand champions have been recreated in stunning detail that are so good at first you cant tell which is the real koi and which is the plaque of that koi.
The more you buy the better the deal they do for you all koi are finished off with multiple coatings of yacht varnish so that they will last a very long time.
And if they do start to loose the varnish after many years all you have to do is give them a quick couple of coats of the same varnish and they are good to go again.
They make great gifts , they have even created a koi coffee table which is again stunning but sadly not for sale.
Koi are not the only creatures I've seen cats Parrots and other things such as Japanese sign writing .
As I've said their website is well worth a visit , you may also wish to buy wooden koi after a visiit to their site.
They are different and we like different in our house hold , thats why we have a moggy with two tails ( I kid you not )There has been a photo of him posted in one of my threads hes called Jack and is a great little guy lol.
Their website link is as follows :-
