Well, I'm glad I wasn't the only one that thought the owner of the dog was the responsible party here, not the driver of the car. I am guilty of letting my dogs run loose, although the Bostons are made to stay in the yard. If I can't keep and eye on them at all times, I put them in the house or the kennel, have been doing that since beginning of this year with the new pups I bought. Too much invested in them, both monetarily and love. My little black pup, Kea, is my shadow. She follows me around and ALWAYS knows where I am. Very seldom is she out of my sight. Quincy is my explorer, and he loves to visit the neighbor's dog, but I don't let him go unless he sneaks over. He comes running when I call him. That only took one time spanking his butt when I had to go get him. Picked him up, spanked his butt one swat, and told him he was a BAD BAD boy! That was it! Must have been right sign of the moon. LOL If I can, he comes running as fast as he can run. I praise him generously each and every time, too! he's very smart, he tries really hard to please. Also, ever since I have been keeping Smokey in the kennel, I don't think Yukon goes roaming during the day. The culprit, neighbor's Golden Retriever, is almost never let off his tie out or out of his kennel. He was caught chasing and/or killing chickens, and threatened with his life from that neighbor 5 miles south! I have a feeling Yukon was with him. Copper ran off last weekend, right before bad storm, and was gone for 2 days. Thank goodness Yukon was in my house, and never went with him! I'm pretty sure the reason Yukon started roaming so far was due to Copper.
