I love how the Texas cichlid changes color when protecting eggs half the body turns ghost white at the head and back side is black normal color is like a chameleon

Where did you get Texas cichlids? I know there in waters around Austin. Can you buy them online?

I actually purchased them from a fish store in Knoxville TN that deals in predator fish of all kinds very nice selection AQUA MARINE

Have you ever had fish sent threw the mail I personally have not but it is done all the time and reason I ask is if I was to run across your 500 neons I could point you in right direction

There is a local breeder hear in my town that has about 7 different buildings for fish and supplies but he deals mainly salt water but he does handle some fresh water I am in there store often I will definitely check and let you know something but the name of the store is the Coral Reef Jefferson city TN

Order fish all the time through the mail, and Have for years. Have yet to lose one other than getting delays in shipping (one time), but the places I’ve ordered from made good on it. Trick is to just temp acclimate for 15minutes, then just let them loose, in your pond or tank etc. Ordered Koi and saltwater fish this way and using this acclimation method and have yet to lose one.
@GBBUDD look into rainbow dace , they are similar in size to the neon tetras and school but should survive your winters. They look somewhat similar at least the males during spawning season. I had them in the pond a few years back and they made it over the winter here, and this was back when the pond would ice over. The only live a few years, though…if I remember correctly.
