Tancho koi question

I have what I believe is/was ? A Tancho koi, all white with a red spot on top of its head. I have had this fish for almost one year. Last week I noticed the red sport was irregular and now it is completely gone. Is this normal or a phase the fish is going through?

I don’t know anything about koi, but goldfish can change appearance over time.

Yes, sadly it's not uncommon for koi to change color & rather drastically, at that. In my experience, the red & orange are the least stable of colors & will fade, change, or disappear altogether, sometimes. Don't expect that red to come back, though. Again, in my experience, once it's gone, it's gone for good.
