Maybe you can ask them about it through their contact info or even call the nearest store.

You can go to there websight and at the bottom it says warranty or you can take a copy of your invioce to the store and buy the warranty .The pump uses 2.3 amps and if you had a local harbor frieght you could have had it shipped to the store for free and picked it up there and got the warranty .They don't always say that ,but if you see it online and your local store does not have it you can ask them to order it for you also .

What I understood from the manufacturer is that it means smaller fish can get sucked in and if the shell is off the pump it is even more of a danger .This pump goes in the water and sucks up a lot of water and they add that to cover themselves .They even state that the pump if you have smaller fish can be set up to be used outside the pond to keep your fish safer if they are smaller fish in your tank or pond .Just like some swimming pools have those dangerous inlets that suck the water to the pump have to be listed as a danger to children and pets .I can understand that because I had a poor baby fish last spring get sucked into the filter and got stuck on the top padding and he did not live

Poor little guy

any submersable pump can suck in fish ....so then all pumps should be labeled as such... theres much more powerful pumps that dont say "not intended for use with fish"...... not to say you'll ever have an issue, but if it were me, i'd want to know what the concern may be.

Mine will be in the skimmer anyway... so I'm not to worried about their warning. As far as electricity, it cant be more than the two smaller pumps I have running now.

I called them when I got a pump from them last year and was told the reason is that the pumps were not tested in water containing fish so they are just covering their behinds!

the best part about that pump is that it is rated for up to 95 degrees, the other pumps i was getting from there were only rated for 75 degrees kep shorting out, took 4 punps to figure that out i live in centreal florida water gets warm here fast plus my electric bill went down with this one
