Hey all...

Hubby and I would really like to put in a stream with a pond at the end. We have no clue where to even start. With our pond in our backyard, we were able to just buy a pond cut out from homedepot and it was very easy, but we're clueless as to where to start with a stream/river with a pond...

does anyone have something like what i described?

How long of stream, how wide, using a liner?
I have a 40 foot stream with pond in ariz. had a slight yard slope to keep the water flowing. Is your yard sloped?

A lot of people have done streams with their pond.

If your yard is flat and level, use the dirt from digging your pond to create the slope required to make a pond flow.

It is best to use a liner, use the dirt dug from your pond and stream to add slope for the stream bed.

Lauren,

I'm in the process of doing pretty much the same thing. Here's a thread where I'm posting updates:

https://www.gardenpondforum.com/my-mini-pond-pics-and-stories-t5444.html

Let me know if you have any specific questions. It's a fun thing, though taking a bit longer than I expected.

I don't have a fountain, though do have a waterwheel.

My first tip would be to plan it out, and perhaps do the "proof of concept" thing similar to what I did. That helped a lot.

Another tip - be careful when planning and digging. I accidentally poked a hole in a corrugated drain pipe that ran from inside the house out into the yard. I don't think it'll cause problems, but still was a big "doh" moment when I realized what I had hit.
