From NW LA -- So far today we've gotten intermittant rain [how much, don't know - couple of inches?] and some gusty winds, but nothing like what we expected. They are showing us still under "tropical storm warning" status, with potential for severe thunder storms, flooding, and potential for tornadic activity through the night.

They were predicting 5"+ rain for us by this time, but then said that folks on the west side of the storm [us] would probably miss the worst part. Sending thoughts for lots of good, soaking rain to the farmers in AR!

Hey, the kids are happy, though! They went ahead and closed our public [Caddo Parish] schools for today and tomorrow, so the kiddos get a 5-day Labor Day w/end!

I know the kids will enjoy that. Skys are getting cloudy here and wind is picking up some. Wondering if I should take down hanging plants and birdfeeders. West AR is going to get alot. Hope I don't get alot of trash in my pond. I purchased a nise pond net and wondered about putting that over it but worried about fish getting into it if water level raises.

We took down our feeders, etc., and picked up the yard "clutter" as best we could -- anything with the potential to be a projectile got put away. I drained the pond by a few inches, too, but doesn't look like we got enough rain for that to be an issue. Hubby said our rain gauge showed less than 1/2 inch. Also put up a quickie, temp. netting cover, but it's coming off in the morning. There were only a few leaves that fell on it [or got under it], but if I hadn't done it, feel sure the pond would be full of trash by now. It's quiet here, now, so hopefully that means the rain is headed up your way.
