Sprung a leak.

I noticed last night that my pump was leaking around the shaft. Luckily, I had a spare on hand but now I need to look at getting another one. My current one is external and runs 8500 gph which turns the pond over twice per hour. I looking for suggestions for an economical replacement.

Good morning! I'm not a pump person, but I know others will ask what brand pump are you currently using? How old is it? Could you repair the leak, or are you just ready for a new one?

If an 8500 turns the pond twice an hour do you mean your pond is over 15000 gallons? Optimally that would be once an hour turn over.

I take it that the pond is 4000 plus gallons and the pump turns it over twice per hour.

The pond is around 5000 gallons. Yes,the current pump turns it over twice in an hour roughly.

It's an Advantage and my hope is that it can be repaired. I have messaged the co. but I haven't gotten a response. I like having a spare because there is no pond store near me to buy a replacement in an emergency.
