First spring with a pond! I shut down the falls this winter. The ice is fully gone now and the day temps are generally in the mid 40s to mid 50s. Looks like all the goldfish survived and they are swimming all over again. When do I start to feed again? I would like to start the falls again, but it’s still cold enough to make doing all that uncomfortable. Will the awakening fish do okay for a week or two with only an air stone moving water or should I suck it up and start up the falls?

I would wait on the falls for a few months there is no sense in wasting the pump or energy. If the fish are small there shouldn't be a problem with the water. If you're concerned you could put an air pump into the water. As far as feeding I wouldn't bother they have enough stuff to take care of themselves.

I started up my pump and the bog, the pond water went from 53 to 42, since we had another cold hit. It took some days to drop so it was not a instant cold hit for the fish. I do see them wandering around in the water snacking on the plants.

I won't feed until the water goes above 55 and stays there.
