A couple of days ago 58 degrees, just beautiful for February. The pond was completely ice free which has never been the case during February. Then wham 14" of snow and chilly temps. Today 3" more snow and tomorrow may be 5" more. I still have it up and running. Looking at the 10 day forecast, we will warm up a bit later in the week to the 40's. So far we have had a hawk, deer and mallards at the pond this year, with the little birds too. Even have a little plant growth here and there.

So pretty! I wish we could get one nice snow fall yet this winter.

Same here with the odd weather. Our pond has frozen/thawed/frozen again half a dozen times. That's never happened.

The only strange thing for us this winter was a freeze up in October, a thaw then a freeze up again.
Usually once the pond is frozen over, it stays frozen until April.
It will be interesting to see what spring is like. As always. (y)
I really enjoy the change of the seasons.

Sounding a little like Meatloaf....3 out of 4s not bad. The older I get, the more I hate Winter. Oh, I like the quiet during a snow storm and being "stranded" in the house, and a new snow fall is beautiful, but after that I wish I had a huge torch to melt it all.

I'm thinking you're going to be up and running now, for the duration :) We're warm again today, after being in the teens yesterday AM.

I'm anxious to remove the pond cover :)

We have had to date exactly two (2) nights where the temps dropped below freezing. One could literally have slept through Winter here.
But, along with this, we have already had over 20% of our typical annual precipitation.....13+ inches. It has been wet.
